After a sound-library has been loaded, the main window displays some information about the state of the current library.

In the upper right corner, the library name and the different volumes are displayed. They include Main Volume, Sound-effect volume, and Media volume. In this case the sound-effect volume specifies the volume of all sound-effects, which are defined inside sound-banks. The media volume specifies the volume of all file and CD playlists (q.v. About sound-events and what they're capable of...). The maximum volume is reached when the indicator is on the right end of the scale.

To change the volume using keys, press the respective key (q.v. Predefined keys). You may also use the mouse to change the volume.

Note: The current volume settings are saved in the sound-library as well. This means that upon reloading the library, the volume is set to the old setting.

Located below these indicators is the current mode (q.v. What is a mode?), the current location mode (q.v. The location mode), and volume mode (q.v. The volume mode).

If you want to know, which sound-events are running or activated, you can look at the lines below (q.v. About sound-events and what they're capable of...). If the sound-events are also using different sections (q.v. ) you can also check the section the sound-event is currently located in (number in brackets).

The display below shows the names of the sound-effects (q.v. About sound-banks and what they're capable of...). Further below, the program displays the number of sound-effects that are currently being played.

The currently played media file (resp. background music; q.v. About sound-events and what they're capable of...) is displayed in the lower part of the window, just like the currently inserted CD and played track. All displays refresh automatically.

To move any SoundMixer window, move the cursor over the "arrow cross" in the top right corner and keep the mouse button pressed during movement.

To minimize the SoundMixer window, please click the "down arrow" icon.
