Editing the file-playlist
Previous  Top  Next

To edit a file playlist, enter the media subfolder where your MP3 / WMA / WAV / MIDI (MID) files are located by clicking the "Select folder..." button. A pop-up window will open where you can select the proper location.

Note: You can only select a folder within the displayed media root folder or one of its sub-folder (q.v. Adjusting folders).

To preview a file, it has to be selected in the "Media files" listing. You can preview it by clicking the "Play file" button. This works the same way for the "Playlists" button.

To add a file to the playlist, please first select it in the file listing and then click the "Add to playlist >>" button. Holding down the Shift or Ctrl button enables you to select multiple entries, just like any other Windows program. You can remove selected files by clicking the "<< delete from playlist" button.

When the sound-event is activated, the playlist's files will be played in the displayed order. When the playlist has been played completely, playback will automatically start from the first track again. If a sound-event contains a playlist, which may be defined here, it will be played indefinately by default. Background music can be "overwritten" or stopped by other sound-events, and can also be stopped manually by hitting the button assigned for this sound-event again (q.v. Starting and stopping sound-events).

For experts: If a CD playlist has been defined for the sound-event (q.v. Editing the CD-playlist), the CD-playlist will override the file-playlist. (i.e. a media file's playback is stopped when a known CD is inserted.)

You can use the arrow buttons to the right side of the playlist to change the order of the files.

If you would like to play the files in "random" mode, enable the random option. This will cause the files to be played randomly. The likeliness of a file being played is determined by its probability (q.v. What are probabilities?). To change the probability of a file, select it (on the right side) and click the "Change probability >>" button (alternatively, you can double-click the probability you'd like to change). In the pop-up window, enter the new probability. Please do not forget that you can change multiple files' probabilities by selecting them while holding down the Shift or Ctrl key and then clicking the "Change probability >>" button. The "Probabilities (all) >>" button offers a similar feature: After clicking it, you are asked for the probabilities of all tracks one after the other. This way, you can assign the probabilities quickly.

Finally, you can enter a value determining whether and how the files are cross-faded (the second song starts while the first one softens). To do so, simply enter a value in the "Crossfading" field. The value determines how many milliseconds the files will overlap.
