Starting and stopping sound-events
Previous  Top  Next

Once sound-events (q.v. About sound-events and what they're capable of...) have been defined and the RPG-SoundMixer's main window is opened again, the software accepts your key commands. The sound-events can be started with their assigned key anytime. Please note that you have to be in the right mode, though (q.v. Changing the mode).

You may also end all sound-events by hitting the Escape key. This will abort the sounds immediately. Effects such as fade-out will not be executed.

For experts: Generally there are two types of sound-events (You can check the sound-event type in the sound-event window):

1. Standard sound-event can not be stopped manually, they have a fixed duration. This means, that you can press a sound-event's key multiple times in a row, and so the sound-event will be started multiple times (three barkings, four thunderclaps,...)

2. Sound-events containing elements like looping or infinitely repeated sound-banks, file or CD playlists or sections can be stopped by pressing the key again. This means they can not be played more than one at a time.
Exception: Such sound-events are not stopped if the Volume mode has been changed in the meantime (q.v. Volume mode). This gives you better control over the volume, since the sound-banks are re-started with the new volume settings, while the background music goes on without interruption.
