Sound-events: While RPG-SoundMixer is running, sound-events are activated by pressing a key. Keys can start or stop certain CD playlists, file playlists (background music), sound-effects and many other - even combined - effects (q.v. Starting and stopping sound-events).

Media: Elements playing in the background of the SoundMixer (especially background music) are called media. Such media is defined in playlists. Only one medium can be played at a time. You can choose between CD playlists (Edit CD playlist) and file playlists (Edit file playlist), CD playlists take priority when a CD is inserted. The following file types are available in file playlists: MP3, WMA, WAV, and MIDI (*.mid) files.

Sound-effects: Files used to create atmosphere other than background music are called sound-effects. You can choose MP3 as well as WAV files. They are organised into so called sound-banks (About sound-banks and what they're capable of...), which enable you to create sound scenarios (q.v. Creating and editing sound-events and Examples of sound-events).
