Adjusting folders
Previous Top Next |
| Note: This may seem obscure at first glance, but the reasons for this is the "packing of sound-libraries" (q.v. Pack sound-library) and the general sound-library architecture. Since sound-libraries are supposed to run on computers other than your own and every computer has a distinct folder structure, only relative paths are being saved in the sound-libraries and structures. Hence, the root folder is the reference point for these relative paths and can be chosen freely on each computer.

| Attention: It may be tempting to simply choose C:\ as root folder, but I strongly advice against this. Since the setting for the root folder is global, it can not easily be changed after creating large numbers of sound-libraries with absolute paths. This also makes it very difficult to share your sound events with others or back up and restore your work. Please choose your root folders carefully.
| Example:
| Media root folder: C:\fantasy-music
| Sound-effect root folder: C:\Program files\RPGSoundMixer\SFX (default)
| With these settings, a sound-library (with integrated sound files) is created and transferred. On another computer that opens the sound-library, the following settings can be found:
| Media root folder: C:\program files\RPGSoundMixer\Media (default)
| Sound-effect root folder: C:\program files\SFX-tool\sounds
| When the sound-library is opened, the media files will be placed in "C:\program files\RPGSoundMixer\media" and the sound-effects in "C:\program files\SFX-tool\sounds" - the determined locations on this computer.
